AboutWe build for the people who never open the intranet
Most HR software assumes a desk, a laptop and a work email address. Roughly seventy per cent of the Australian workforce has none of those at work.
What We Do
BW Staff Rewards Pty Ltd builds one thing: a recognition and rewards platform for employers whose staff are on a floor, a site, a ward or a truck rather than at a desk.
Points, peer recognition, everyday retail discounts and digital gift cards, in one app that signs in with a mobile number. That is the whole product. We do not sell payroll, rostering, performance management, learning or salary packaging, and we are not planning to.
Why We Started
The company began in 2021 after a run of consulting engagements that kept producing the same finding: the employer had bought a benefits platform, the head-office staff loved it, and the frontline had never logged in. Not because they did not want the benefit, but because the invitation went to an email address that did not exist.
That is a solvable problem, and it is mostly not a software problem. It is a decision to design for the mobile number rather than the corporate directory, and to put something redeemable in the app before anyone has earned a point.
A benefits program with thirty per cent activation is not a benefits program. It is a subscription with a good demo.
How We Are Structured
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Legal entity | BW Staff Rewards Pty Ltd |
| ABN | 00 000 000 000 |
| Founded | 2021 |
| Head office | Melbourne, Victoria |
| Team | 24 people, all in Australia |
| Data hosting | Australian regions only |
| Ownership | Privately held, no outside investors |
No outside investors is a deliberate choice rather than a boast. It means we are not under pressure to bolt on modules we do not believe in, and it means our pricing does not need to fund a growth target somebody else set.
What We Will Not Build
Being clear about this saves everybody a sales cycle. There are configurations we decline regardless of who is asking, and they are all variations on one principle: a rewards program should never make someone worse off for exercising a workplace right.
- Attendance bonuses. Paying people not to take sick leave produces people who come to work sick.
- Team bonuses for a clean incident record. That rewards not reporting, which is the opposite of a safety outcome.
- Points tied to output or hours. Remuneration for work performed belongs in payroll, where it is visible and counted properly.
- Employer visibility into individual redemptions. What somebody spent their points on is not their employer's business.
The full list, with the reasoning, is on the eligible products page.
How We Charge
A platform fee per employee per month, and reward spend billed only on points actually issued. Nothing is charged on budget you set aside and never allocate, and unspent budget does not convert into an invoice at period end.
We do not quote a program cost net of expected breakage. Points that staff never redeem are a sign the program is not working, not a discount. The numbers are on the pricing page.
Who We Work With
Australian employers with twenty or more staff in retail, hospitality, aged care, warehousing and logistics, trades and field service, cleaning and facilities, and transport.
Below twenty staff the administration overhead usually is not worth it, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a licence.
